Riverside County is divided into 19 area plans, as shown on the Area Plan Boundary Map (Figure LU-4) as found in the adopted General Plan. The purpose of these area plans is to provide more detailed land use and policy direction regarding local issues. Policy Areas are specific geographic districts that contain unique characteristics that merit detailed attention and focused policies. Overlays and policy areas address local conditions and may impact the underlying land use designation. This data set defines a portion of the mapped policy area boundaries for the various area plans where specific area details, development characteristics andother considerations should be further evaluated. The end user is required to consult the applicable Area Plan text for each specific policy area in the adopted General Plan document for details @ www.rcip.org. Please be advised that GIS has NOT OFFICIALLY VERIFIED the data or PERFORMED ADEQUATE QUALITY CONTROL VALIDATION for ACCURACY or DISCREPANCIES. This information is for use in applications designed to alert Planning staff or other users of the possible need for further evaluation of the mapped policy areas. It is GIS staff's understanding as of Dec. 31, 2004, in a review with Senior Planning staff that worked on the General Plan, that all mapped policy areas are not included in this data layer. Futhermore, please be advised that non-mapped policy areas exist for the 19 area plans and the user must review the adopted General Plan for any additional requirements. USE of this SDE layer requires the display of the following disclaimer on all maps, presentations and analysis: NOTE: Policy areas are specific geographic areas that contain unique characteristics and provide guidance and direction regarding local issues.
